Summer Art Camp

Fire & Form: The Raku Experience
Ages 14 and Up

Celebrate innovation and tradition at the Zanesville Museum of Art during its 90th anniversary year with Fire & Form: The Raku Experience. Designed for ages 14 through adult, this dynamic six-day summer workshop invites participants to explore both traditional clay techniques and the thrilling, unpredictable beauty of Raku firing. Create hand built and wheel-thrown mini works, then experiment with rapid-fire Raku techniques using a microwave kiln to achieve crackle glazes and dramatic metallic finishes. Rooted in Zanesville’s rich ceramics legacy yet energized by contemporary experimentation, this camp honors nine decades of artistic excellence while pushing creative boundaries. Join us as we shape, spin, and ignite the next chapter of clay at the ZMA.
Your creations will dry over the following weeks and be fired by ZMA staff. Return to the ZMA on July 10, 9am to 12pm* to finish your pieces with a wide variety of colorful glazes.

All supplies and a light snack are provided.

Monday– Friday, June 1–5, 1:30–4:30pm AND Friday, June 10, 9am–12pm* at the ZMA.
