Cap City Brass- The roots of this brass quintet are with the Bierley Family. Formed as the Village Brass Quintet decades ago, the retirement of the group’s cornetist John Bierley, brought about the reconfigured Cap City Brass. Dedicated to performing in as many varied settings as can be imagined, the group is committed to literature from the Baroque and Classical era, jazz, swing, and even anime! Recent performances include graduations, weddings, school concerts, senior centers, parks, libraries, and churches.

Dale Nawrocki, Trumpet- Dale’s music background reaches all the way back to his maternal great grandfather who was a member of the original Cleveland Orchestra. His father, Dan, was a long-time band director at Reynoldsburg City Schools. Graduating from The Ohio State University, Dale started his teaching career at Berne Union, followed by Norton Middle School. Currently, you can catch him performing with The Central Ohio Symphony, New Albany Symphony Orchestra, Lancaster Festival Orchestra, Worthington Chamber Orchestra, St. Joseph Cathedral Brass, “Swing’s the Thing” Big Band, and the Cap City Brass.

Todd Swatsler, Horn- Originally from Lima, Ohio, Todd began playing the horn at age 12. He earned a B.A. in Music at The Ohio State University. After graduating from law school at Ohio State, Todd did corporate litigation for 35 years. He now performs regularly with the Capital City Brass, Vaughn Weister's Famous Jazz Orchestra, and the Ohio Capital Winds. He's also performed with the Central Ohio Symphony, the Lima Symphony, the Licking County Symphony, and the Knox County Symphony.

John Welsh, Trombone- John graduated from Ohio State in 1985 with a degree in Chemical Engineering, which he has put to use at DuPont in Circleville for nearly 35 years. After taking a 20-plus year break from performing, he took the trombone back in hand, first in the New Albany Symphony Orchestra. In addition to playing in Cap City Brass, he has held the solo trombone seat in the Dublin Silver Band for the last 10 years, and regularly fills in with many of the regional orchestras around central Ohio, and even the occasional college ensemble when he wants to feel really old.

Bob Munson, Tuba- Bob began his relationship with the tuba in 8th grade. His love for performing blossomed in high school, deciding to earn a degree in Music Performance from Kent State University. After Kent State, Bob took on an expanded role in his family's roofing and construction business while spending every spare minute performing in bands, orchestras, and quintets. This pattern has held true for decades as Bob currently runs a home building company when he is not busy arranging, composing, rehearsing and performing with his friends across a broad range of music groups.

David Mazon, Cornet/Trumpet- Dave’s father played trumpet in the United States Army Bands for 25 years. Surprisingly, he started with the sax in 5th grade but changed to the "best" instrument in 9th grade, inspired not only by his father but also by the music of John Williams and the Boston Pops Orchestra. Dave studied trumpet performance at The University of Georgia under Fred Mills, a member of the world-famous brass quintet, “The Canadian Brass.” Today, he is an active trumpeter and private trumpet instructor in the central Ohio area
