The Miranda Demos and Sara McCluskey Duo

Sara McCluskey

Miranda Demos

Miranda Demos and Sara McCluskey are a Columbus-based acoustic duo blending haunting harmonies with rich, stripped-down arrangements.
Featuring Miranda on vocals and woodwinds and Sara on vocals and guitar, their sound moves effortlessly across decades — from classic folk and 70s singer-songwriters to 90s alternative and modern indie pop.
With layered vocal harmonies, expressive flute textures, and intimate storytelling, they reimagine familiar songs in a way that feels both nostalgic and new.

Trained at the Dearmond Academy of Music, Miranda started playing flute when she was 10 years old. She went on to study at Mt. Vernon Nazarene University and Messiah University, performing in a number of concert bands and symphonic orchestras. In addition to her classical training, Miranda loves experimenting with different musical styles and tones on various wind instruments, including ocarinas, bamboo flutes, and penny whistles. She loves the music scene in Columbus and you can find her singing and playing flute in local bands and venues around town.

Miranda loves helping flute students of all ages build and improve foundational techniques that they can carry with them throughout their musical journey. She believes that playing the flute starts and ends with a beautiful tone, and finds it very rewarding to help students develop their own. She is passionate about instilling a love of music in her students and helping them find joy in all aspects of flute playing.

A second-generation musician, Sara grew up in a home filled with music. By age 12, Sara began private guitar lessons at a small music store in uptown Westerville where her passion for playing grew rapidly. By age 16, she was playing out professionally in a 4-piece cover band called The Eleventh Hour, in which she filled the one and only guitar chair for the band.

Teaching is something that came very natural for Sara. Sharing her passion for music and inspiring students to find their voice through an instrument is something she relates to on a very personal level. Her teaching style is all about helping each student reach their musical goals and having fun while doing it.

You can also catch Sara fronting the rock n’ roll cover band The Mighty Ikes, which has been gigging around the Columbus area since 2009.
