Topic: Pictorial Weaving with Philip Sarsany
“Paint” with yarn, texture, and a little imagination as you turn fibers into pictures using both classic and experimental weaving techniques.
Fiber artist and ZMA Collections and Exhibitions Coordinator Philip Sarsany will share eye-catching examples from his own work and demo fun techniques you can try right away.
Then it’s your turn to weave! Create a beginner-friendly, one-of-a-kind mixed-media piece to take home. You’ll receive a reusable weaving tool to keep the creativity going long after the workshop ends. All materials are provided—feel free to bring along special fibers or found materials from home to make your weaving truly yours.

Philip Sarsany is a Colombian-born, American citizen, who received his Bachelor of Integrative Studies degree from Kent State University in 2024. He also holds an Associate of Arts Degree with a specialization in History and a Certificate in Adobe Illustrator from Columbus State Community College, both earned in 2020. Sarsany has been accepted to a Master of Science in Heritage Resources Administration at the University of Kentucky. Sarsany is a freelance Textiles and Mixed Media Artist who employs techniques ranging from crochet, to knitting, to weaving, to create colorful and textural eclectic artworks.
