We need your experience, and we need your passion!

The Zanesville Museum of Art needs enthusiastic volunteers to help with a variety of museum functions. As a volunteer, you will learn about the museum’s outstanding collection, meet new friends, connect with the local art community, and provide help that is essential to the museum’s success.

By donating just a few hours of your time, you can help us to better serve our community!

The museum is looking for assistance in the following areas:

  • Visitor Services:

    • Visitor Service Volunteers are the museum’s ambassadors. From their friendly welcome, to providing information to the visitor or caller about current or upcoming museum events and programs, these Volunteers enable guests to have an enriching and memorable experience. No experience is necessary, and training will be provided.  Duties include:

      • Greeting visitors

      • Answering phone and transferring calls

      • Providing general information to the visitor or caller about current or upcoming museum events and programs

      • Recording daily attendance

      • Monitoring museum security camera

      • Registering guests for upcoming events and programs

      • Assisting with museum store transactions

      • Occasionally assisting museum staff with administrative needs

  • Events and Rentals:

    • Event Volunteers are an integral part of making our events run smoothly, which helps create an enjoyable experience for all event attendees. Assist staff in setting up for events, greeting and signing in guests, and cleaning up after events.

  • Education:

    • Our Education Volunteers are vital to making sure our education programs run smoothly and are enjoyable for museum guests.  You will be working with guests of all age groups during children’s Summer Art Camps, Badge Days, Sunday Fundays, the Y-Bridge Arts Festival, and more! Formal art education is not required for volunteers. Education volunteers will:

      • Assist in set-up of events

      • Prepare art activities, including supplies and examples

      • Assist the Education Coordinator and art instructors with group management in the galleries, during the events, and during cleanup

      • Take photos during programs

    Collections:

    • Maintaining a collection of 8,000+ works of art would not be possible without Collection Volunteers. You will work directly with the Collection Coordinator to maintain our collection files. We are looking for those individuals with strengths in data entry and attention to detail to assist us in updating PastPerfect, our collection database.

  • Facilities Administrator:

    • As a volunteer facilities administrator, you will assist the Facility Technician with office tasks including, but not limited to maintaining a calendar for cleaning, event setups, meeting scheduling, etc.; updating the Facility Technician Manual; and performing data entry for facility inventories.
