The men depicted here, Jacques Sicard and Henri Gelle, worked for Weller Pottery from 1901 to 1907. They are famous for producing the Sicardo pottery line, recognizable by its shifting iridescence of lustrous green, gold, and purple. Examples of Sicardo ware are displayed in the Arts of Ohio Gallery and in the American Art Pottery Gallery.

Thank you to David and Sally Goins for adopting this work.
