European Art

Immerse yourself in European art at the ZMA. A fine selection of paintings, sculpture, and decorative arts dating from the 15th- through the late 19th-centuries is displayed in the Ayers Gallery. This beautiful 17th–century paneled room originally from Hatton Garden—the former London estate of Sir Christopher Hatton, Lord Chancellor under Queen Elizabeth I, was purchased by ZMA founder and patron Mr. Edward M. Ayers in 1940 and subsequently installed to feature fine European works of art from the museum’s permanent collection.

The Ayers Gallery is underwritten in memory of Mr. and Mrs. Edward M. Ayers Founders 1936
